Postseason Tune-Up Finds New Home, Adds Border War Events

The NCRunners Elite Tune-Up, a postseason all-comers meet that has previously been hosted by Bishop McGuinness, will have a new home this year. The meet was originally conceived by Robert Youtz as a way to keep athletes sharp for New Balance Nationals in mid-June, as well as an opportunity for any athlete to compete at least once more before track season ends. Over the six years of its existence, the meet evolved into a significant event that often produced national-caliber times, especially in the mid-distances (and it is the meet where Trentavis Friday put up big times in 2013 and 2014). This year, the meet will move to Marvin Ridge High School, which falls in line with the other big change.

SCRunners is officially joining forces with NCRunners to promote this meet and recruit top talent! To that end, the meet will feature a Border War in the 1600 and 800: the top 4-8 athletes from each state that compete in those races will get jerseys representing their home state, and we will score the races by state to award an overall victor. We hope to include Tennessee and Georgia as well, creating a four-way battle in which the athletes battle for state pride and bragging rights! If the response to the idea is good, we can expand the Border War to other events, as well.

The meet will be held on June 6th, which is two weeks before this year's New Balance Nationals. More details coming soon!
