The Watauga senior opened the season with a big PR, and she has even bigger goals for the rest of the year.

 

There have been some impressive early-season performances around the state, but it's always particularly noteworthy when an athlete opens the season with a significant PR.  That's what Watauga's Kathleen Mansure did when she dropped a 19:06 at the WNC Carnival, considering that her previous best was 19:31.  Kathleen also nearly upset one of the state's best runners, Lily Anderson, with a strong final mile.  Before the interview, she told me she had upper her mileage significantly this summer, which is referenced in the video.  She also sets high goals for track season, where her current PR in the 3200 is 12:02.88.  With a large team and coaching staff to support her, Mansure has a better chance than most of staying healthy through the higher-mileage training, and we can't wait to see how that pays off.  More importantly, though, we hope she can help elevate the ...
