Preseason Competition Starts This Weekend

And, they're off!  Guns will fire at three preseason invitationals this weekend, and we'll have our first real results to digest.

 

The official first date of competition for NCHSAA is next Monday, the 18th, but teams can holds scrimmages this week.  There are 3 major preseason "scrimmage invitationals" going on this weekend that will give everyone a small taste of the fitness level of some of the key teams around the state.  If you're as hungry for some cross country results as I am, you should be excited about the meets on tap for this weekend:

 

Wake County Kickoff Classic:  Meet Page  |  2013 Results

Hosted by Apex and run at WakeMed, this meet divides the boys and girls into a freshman-sophomore race and a junior-senior race.  The race distance is 3000 meters.

 

 

Pioneer Clash of the Classes:  Meet Page  |  2013 Results

Hosted by Watauga at State Farm Fields, the focus is on each individual grade year at this event.  Last year's meet had a race distance of 3000 meters, but the meet has run at 3200 meters at times in the past.

 

 

Mecklenburg County 2 Mile Preview:  Meet Page

This is a brand-new meet hosted by Myers Park on their home course, which is hilly and challenging.  With a full 2 Miles of length, this will be a good opening challenge for younger runners.  Like the Wake County meet, it is divided into Freshman/Sophomore and Junior/Senior races.
