Mohogany Baker (Berry) won her least favorite event in what turned out to be a battle for the top spot in the state rankings.

 

There may not be an official Mecklenburg County championship, but coaches in that area still get the same thing accomplished with a two-day pair of meets.  Girls' competition was held on Thursday at Providence High School, then the boys got to work on Friday afternoon at East Mecklenburg.  As you would expect when you get together most of the schools in the Charlotte area, including a few from outside Mecklenburg County, the competition level was strong and there were many national-caliber performances.
