Weekend 7 Coverage

With medley relays, teams scoring in the field events, and the unusual 4x1600, this historic meet provides a break from the normal track routine.

Easter Weekend approaches, and brings a small slate of invitationals for us to enjoy during breaks from family and food.  So while you're buzzing on all that sugar, make sure to check out the coverage of one of the state's oldest and most competitive invitationals, plus two out of state meets that will have a NC presence.

Bojangles Apex Relays (Apex HS)

A well-run meet that deliberately keeps the size of the events manageable, with the intention of making the experience enjoyable for everyone involved.  This is an institution in the Raleigh area, and every year teams from other parts of the state come in to enjoy the competitive, team-oriented meet.  Plus, the invitational 1600's usually produce excellent times, and with cool weather favoring the distance runners that should be the case again.

Tri-Cities Track Classic (Science Hill HS, Johnson City, TN)

Johnson City, TN, is just a little over an hour up I-26 from Asheville, and a few teams will take advantage of that on Saturday.  The meet draws some strong Tennessee talent, especially in the distances, and it offers a steeplechase and a distance medley to cater to them.

Allen Johnson Invitational (Dreher HS, Columbia, SC)

This meet typically draws good athletes in the sprints and fields events, and some Charlotte-area teams may head south in search of warmer weather and competitive races.
