The 1A State Meet began with a competitive boys 4x800m relay with Murphy and Mitchell High School battling neck and neck from the first meter to the last. The Murphy boys won in the kick, but the Mitchell boys came back in the distance events with something to prove. Zach Boone and Brandon King took second and third in the 1600m, and first and third in the 3200m. Chris O’Brien (Raleigh Charter) took home three medals, setting a new 1A State Meet record in the 1600m and placing second in both the 800m and 3200.
