NCAA Division II Championship Updates for WVIAC Athletes Douglas McDaniel May 28, 2010

Kump, Carnett, and Wilks All-Americans!     Ricky Kump ( Kump Decathlon Live Updates ) is ALL-AMERICAN. Placed 3rd in final event, 1500m run, in 4:34.23 to finish 5th overall with 6,770 points.   Wheeling Jesuit sophomore Sarah Campanelli placed 16th last night in the 1500m prelims in 4:45.68. The top 12 advanced.   Kevoy Douglas, senior from West Virginia Wesleyan College, runs in the 200m prelims today (Friday) scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Freshman Shawnee Carnett of Concord University runs in the 800m prelims today at 6:40 p.m. Josh Wilks of Seton Hill follows in the 800m prelims at 6:55 p.m.   UPDATES: Douglas runs  21.53 and places 10th. Emily Taylor finished 9th with a throw in the discus of 146' 0.25" and just one spot out of All-American. Freshman Shawnee Carnett of Concord University is now an All-American placing 7th in 2:09.84 Josh Wilks of Seton Hill gave the WVIAC its 3rd All-American as he finished 8th in the 800m in 1:50.87.   Emily Taylor of Wheeling Jesuit University  competes Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the Discus.   I will post results as soon as I get them (hopefully close to live).

Kump is All-American With 5th Place Overall   Ricky Kump of West Virgina Wesleyan has gotten off to a good start in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Irwin Belk Track in Charlotte hosted by Johnson C. Smith University.   I will update Ricky Kump's progress as each event is completed. (Top 8 make All-American)   Thursday Event #1 (100m dash): Placed 2nd in 11.11 for 836 points Event #2 (Long jump): Placed 9th (20'- 11.75") for 673 points Event #3  (shot put): Placed 9th (37'-7.25) for 568 points - 6th place overall after 3 events Event #4 (high jump) Placed 2nd (6'06") for785 points - Currently in 4th place overall with 2862 points and only 89 points out of first place. This was a Personal Best in high jump. Event#5 (400m dash): Placed 2nd in 49.63 - 3rd place after Day One with 3741 points and 124 points out of first place   Friday Event #6(110meter hurdles): Placed 7th in 15.89. Moves into 2nd place overall after 6 Events Event #7 (Discus Throw):  Finishes 12th with throw of 102' - 4". 4th Overall with 4974 points Event #8 (Pole Vault): Vaulted 12'  3" placing 10th.  6th place overall with 5,523 points Event #9 (Javelin Throw):150' - 11" for 8th place and 8th overall with 6,053 points Event #10 (1500 meter run): Placed 3rd in 4:34.23. 5th Overall with 6,770 points. ALL-AMERICAN  

6 WVIAC Athletes Earn Trips To NCAA Nationals Douglas McDaniel May 20, 2010

6 WVIAC track and field athletes have earned trips to the 2010 NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships to be held May 27-29 at the Irwin Belk Track Complex in Charlotte, NC hosted by Johnson C. Smith University.   The 6 athletes are: Emily Taylor, seeded 7th in the discus, of Wheeling Jesuit University, Sarah Campanelli, seeded 10th in the 1500m, of  Wheeling Jesuit University, Shawnee Carnett, seeded 15th in the 800m, from Concord University, Josh Wilks, seeded 15th in the 800m, from Seton Hill University, Ricky Kump, seeded 12th in the decathlon, from West Virginia Wesleyan, and Kevoy Douglas of West Virginia Wesleyan seeded 17th in the 200m.   NCAA DII Women Track and Field Championship List NCAA DII Men Track and Field Championship List NCAA DII Outdoor T&F Performance List
