Meet Information

The meet will be held at Kituwah Mound in Bryson City.  Off Hwy 19 in Bryson City.

importantly, this is the most sacred Cherokee cultural site in existence and

recognized as the Cherokee Mother Town. 
Archeological research conducted on the site dates back its existence as

a Cherokee village to well over 10,000 years. This property contains an ancient

mound, the center of the Cherokee world, that once held the eternal flame.

Surrounding fields comprise the site of an ancient village and are currently

used for permitted farming by tribal members.


It

is critical that our athletes, coaches, and spectators respect the significance

of this site while participating in Cross Country events. Spectators are

required to stay in designated viewing areas and athletes must stay on

designated trail courses. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE is permitted on the mound (enclosed

in the split rail fence), in perimeter fields, or other areas marked

off-limits.

Middle School will begin at 3:00 p.m. with the boys, followed immediately by the girls.

Around 3:45 p.m., the high school boys, followed by the high school girls
