Welcome to the 26th running of the adidas Seahawk Cross Country Invitational, held on the campus of UNCW.

The course will be located in the same place as usual. The start and finish lines will continue to be on the school's recreation fields located across from Hanover Gymnasium. Due to some facility improvements to other sports, the course is being slightly altered again and may actually be closer to 3 miles than 5k. You will be informed of the exact race distance once the course is set. Spikes can still be worn but if it is dry, racing flats might be a better option.

The entry fee this year will be $75.00 per team. This fee covers your entire roster of Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Development runners. Boy's and Girl's teams are considered separate. If a school enters both a boy's and a girl's team, then the school owes $150. If you are entering less than 5 runners, the fee is $15.00 per runner. All entry fee checks are to be made out to "UNCW Athletics/Cross Country" and mailed to: Jim Sprecher, UNCW Athletics, 601 S. College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28403. While we prefer entries fees to be paid in advance by mail, they can be paid on race day at the time of packet pickup. However, packets will not be released without payment.

Enter any runners that are a possibility, but remove any that you know are not coming. There are no limits on roster size, but please try to be accurate. You may add and subtract from your entry roster up until 10:00pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Each team can enter a Varsity team of 5-7 runners into either the Championship or the Varsity race, a JV team or B-Team of 5-7 runners in the Junior Varsity race, and any additional runners in the Development race. You do not need to designate who is running which race ahead of time. Simply do not exceed your limits. We cannot and will not allow entry additions or changes on race day so if there's a possibility someone is going to race, enter them. If you are sure they are not, please delete them so we don't print a bib# for them. Please note the change of order of races from last year. We are starting with the Championships, followed by Varsity, JV, and Development.

While you may email us and indicate your race preference, we will determine which of the team races (Championship or Varsity) your school will be placed into based on last year's results and this year's preseason polls and early season races. If you truly have a situation that may require a certain race, please contact us. We will try to balance the two varsity team races with a near equal number of teams (25-30 schools in each varsity race). Select individuals not racing with their team in the meet may be permitted entry into one of the two varsity team races. Race assignments will be posted on www.UNCWsports.com and this site by Thursday, September 5th at 5:00pm. 4A schools should expect to be placed into the Championship races. Starting box assignments will be in your packet upon pickup on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

The Awards Ceremony for all races will be at 12:00pm and will be held in the bleachers of the soccer facility. The complex will be locked down until 11:45am. At that time, teams can begin entering to find seats for the awards. The following awards will be distributed at that time:
- Statues will be awarded to the individual winners of each of the 4 varsity team races.
- Medals will be awarded to the top 20 individual finishers of each of the 4 varsity team races.
- Trophies will be awarded to the winning team and runner-up team of each of the 4 varsity team races.
- Medals will be awarded to the top 10 individual finishers in each of the Junior Varsity races.
- A plaque will be awarded to the winning team of each Junior Varsity race.

All race timing will be done using ChronoTrack Tag Timing. Each participant will have a specific bib # assigned as in the past and stuck to the back of that bib will be a coded tag that registers as soon as they cross the finish line. It is similar to the chip system that a lot of road races are using, only it is on their chest and it doesn't have to be collected afterwards. Once they cross the line, they are done. No more long chutes to stand in after finishing. Please note that Official timing for each race will stop at 29 minutes. Coaches are responsible for any timing necessary beyond that. While we won't exclude anyone, please use your best judgment when deciding whether or not someone is ready and capable of racing and can meet that time standard.

Each year, it can be quite warm on race day. Please be sure your athletes are properly hydrated prior to racing. We will have water coolers and cups at the finish line and refreshments will be for sale in the team camp area at the concessions stand (near the soccer bleachers). However, I strongly suggest you bring your own fluids also.

Team camps will no longer be set up inside the soccer stadium. Team camps will be in the field adjacent to the tennis courts, across the street from the soccer complex. You can park your bus in Lot K and you will walk past this field on the way over to the course. No team camps are to be set up outside of this area. No team camps can be set up on Friday evening as there is a home soccer match that evening at 7:30pm. Please keep your athletes and parents out of the soccer complex during the meet itself. We also ask that your team cleans up after itself following the meets. Trash cans and trash bags will be available. There will also be a dumpster by the parking lot beside the team camp area. Please be sure to use them.

NO shower facilities will be available at UNCW so please plan accordingly. Athletes need to stay out of Hanover Gym, Almkuist-Nixon Sports Medicine, and Trask Coliseum. Please let your athletes know this. Porta-Johns will be available in the team camp area, as well as near the track facility.

Course viewing is available on Friday afternoon from 2:00pm until 6:00pm and anytime after 7:00pm. There will be a college cross country meet taking place on the course from 6:00-7:00pm so please be aware if you are on or around the course. Please feel free to bring your team out to watch the college runners race the same course your athletes will be running the next day. You can also pick up your team packets on Friday near the finish line starting at 5:00pm. On Saturday morning, packet pickup will be at the front entrance of the Almkuist-Nixon Sports Medicine building at 7:00am.

If your team would be interested in taking a campus tour, they are given weekdays at 10:00am and 2:00pm from King Hall. Please call the Admissions Office at 910-962-3243 to schedule your group.

Bus Parking will be in Parking Lots A or K near Trask Coliseum and across from the course.

Results will be available for the coaches following the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony (1 copy per school). Results will also be posted at www.UNCWsports.com, http://nc.milesplit.com, and www.ncpreptrack.com.

Once again, race T-shirts will be sold at the tent near the Sports Med Building, beside the team camp area. Please advise your athletes to bring their money and get in line early. The price will once again be $15.
