Coaches, The entry list for the 4A West Regional is available at the Watauga HS track site. This is not a final list of accepted athletes. We will take early scratches until 7:00 pm Monday, May 7th. This is for scratches only, no additions or changes will be accepted. After scratches, the top 16 in each event and all auto qualifiers will be accepted. Additional scratches can be made at the coaches meeting Saturday morning, but they will not be replaced in the field of accepted athletes. By noon Tuesday, the list of accepted entries will be posted at the site referenced above. Scratches should be made by emailing kvshaw19@gmail.com Any marks with a red UN are not in the MileSplit database. You should be prepared to document the marks. Any unconfirmed sprint marks will be converted from hand time. The website referenced above will also have a facility map, time schedule and welcome letter. The time schedule has the field event start times at 5 minute intervals. This was done so athletes could be appropriately recognized before they compete. All events will be seeded after the coaches' meeting. The coaches' meeting is at 9:45. Top 9 will make finals of all field events. We look forward to a great competition Saturday, Watauga Track Staff

Just to be clear about the above statement: Unconfirmed sprint times will be treated as hand times - i.e., rounded up to the next tenth and then add 0.24. Someone from the I-Meck better find a way to get results of the conference meet to the regional meet director if it was auto-timed and if they want to be seeded on that basis.

Is there a way to get this in descending order, to make it a little easier to follow? Some of the events bounce around a little. Thanks

For some reason, marks that come out of the RaceTab system are sorted by "dictionary order" which means that they are sorted by the first character, then the second if the first is the same. This works fine in most running events, but not the girls 400 (where things in the 50's come after all the times over a minute that start with a "1") or the girls' 4x8 and boys' 3200 (where the times in the 9's come after the times in the 10's). In most field events it puts things in reverse order, but things are a little more confusing in the girls' pole vault where it crosses the 10 foot barrier and girls' discus where it crosses the 100' barrier. I also spotted a couple of cases where the coach put a "0" in front of the time - those things are getting sorted ahead of everything else. (An example is the boys' 800 - there is an "02:03.0" that is at the beginning of the list.) I know it is something of a hassle to try to figure out what position an athlete is in with this odd sorting. But fixing it, while still keeping the info about unverified marks, would've involved two hours of editing to make sure each event was in order, and we probably would've messed something up. Hope that helps it make a little more sense. The performance list of accepted athletes that goes up Tuesday morning will be the Hy-Tek report, and will look like what you are used to.

Elgin, Many thanks for posting this so early. It really helps a parent out in terms of planning. Regarding the sorting if you cut and past the info into excel and do a little parsing you can then sort it, for example here is the men's 3200 sorted: 1 Vandenberg, Andrew Watauga 09:33.5 Edit 2 Rains, Cole T.C. Roberson 09:42.6 Edit 3 Kovach, Robert T.C. Roberson 09:49.0 UN 4 Souder, Madison Ardrey Kell 09:50.7 Edit 5 Anderson, Josh Watauga 09:51.7 Edit 6 Maxey, Wyatt Providence 09:53.6 Edit 7 Sheehan, Patrick Lake Norman 09:56.0 Edit 8 Shah, Parth Ardrey Kell 10:04.1 Edit 9 Poindexter, Dakota Myers 10:08.0 Edit 10 Wuertz, Brian A.C. Reynolds 10:08.3 Edit 11 Matkins, Jack Myers Park 10:11.8 Edit 12 Whalen, Dan Ardrey Kell 10:16.2 Edit 13 Hofmann, Kyle Myers Park 10:24.8 Edit 14 Houser, Zach T.C. Roberson 10:26.6 Edit 15 Craig, Alex South Caldwell 10:29.2 Edit 16 Mattthewson, Dylan South 10:31.2 Edit 17 Obeid, Joey Hough, William 10:58.0 UN 18 Burzlaff, Daniel Mooresville 10:58.7 UN 19 Cuddy, Matt Hough, William 11:21.5 20 Tinkler, Joel Hough, William 12:01.8 Kind Regards, GS

Some coaches have expressed concerns about having 200m dash prelims. Is there even an option of changing it?

@CDoug The NCHSAA has determined that all regionals will use the same schedule, which does not include trials in the 200 dash. So, yes, it will have to be changed.
