Senior Spotlight: Watauga Boys

Three seniors hope to lead the Pioneers' class of 2013 in adding a new chapter to an already strong school history.

Our first Senior Spotlight of the 2012-2013 school year is actually a trio of runners.  Watauga's boys entered this season with high expectations, based on their own views and also justified by their #6 placement in the NCRunners All-Classes Team Rankings (they grade out as the #2 4A team in the returning rankings).  I interviewed Josh Anderson, Bryan Brackney, and Peter Vandenberg at the Clash of the Classes, and they made it clear they are focused on going out with a bang this year.  The three of them are already highly-regarded individual runners, known to their regular opponents as tough competitors, but it was interesting to hear the different paths they took to get where they are today.  I'll say it again: I don't think we've come close to seeing the best of the Watauga boys this year, as I believe they are focused on training and not on racing right now.
