Salute to Seniors: Sarah Perkins

Salute to Seniors Sarah Perkins Gorham HS

What was your most memorable race?
Absolutely my 55m hurdle race as a junior, it was my first time EVER winning states on any team i have ever been on. It was one of the best feelings I have ever experienced.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?
Indoor track of this year (senior year)

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
I would have started 300 hurdles as a freshmen, and I would never have played basketball for 2 years.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
My bodys fluctuation in weight was deff something to get used to and over come coming into my junior year. I had lost a lot of weight and I had to adjust my diet and focus on treating my body better while I was training it so hard.

What will you miss the most?
The support from my home town

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
WORK HARD! Give everything you do 100%. Because you never know how good you really are at something unless you give it your all.

What advice have your coaches had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
I have always been treated with so much respect from my coaches, and they are ALWAYS telling me I can do better. This pushed me on and off the track.

What are your college plans?
I will be going to Gardner Webb University in NC, where I will study nursing in a 3 year program to become a registered nurse. After I will take an additional year, to two years, to become a nurse practitioner, I would like to end up workin in a pediatric wing in a hospital
