Salute To Seniors: Rachel Rice - The Bolles School

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race would be cross country states this past year. We gave our medals and trophy to American Heritage. It was very emotional for everyone.

What would you consider your biggest competition?

My biggest competition would be against Bishop Kenny in 2009.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

My greatest high school accomplishment would be winning states in 2009.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would not change anything. I will remember all the good day and bad days.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

My most difficult obstacles would be nerves and my knee injury in 10th grade.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss my teammates the most. They are the ones who push you the most

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

My advice would be to always push yourself because you can always improve.  I would probably have started running a lot later in high school if my coach did not tell me, I needed to come and run. He told me my 8th grade year that I would be on varsity the following year. I did not believe him until it happened in 9th grade.

What are your college plans?

I plan on running cross country and track and field next year at ECU. I cannot wait to start at new chapter in my life.
