Senior Spotlight: Jacob Sears

The Panther Creek senior elevated himself into the state-wide picture last year, and now he is getting some national attention.

Seeing the results from last Friday's high school 3200, in which Jacob Sears won with a PR of 9:11.51, reminded me that he had given me an interview way back in November.  What better time to pull that out than the week after his breakout track race?  Jacob first drew my attention with times of 4:23 and 9:28 late last spring, but when you look at his running career (by recorded times, at least), it's clear that he began dedicating himself seriously to running after his sophomore year.  That extra effort paid off in a drop from 18:03 to 16:25 in one year, and he has steadily improved since.  One of his stated goals in the interview is to bring his mile times down this year, and after his impressive run at NC State I can't wait to see that happen!
