Queen City Relays Recap

Rivals Berry Academy and West Charlotte capture the spirit of competition and sportsmanship at the iconic Charlotte meet.

Saturday's running of the Queen City Relays marked the 56th time the iconic meet has been held in Charlotte, where it has become a fixture on most local teams' schedules.  Some of the meet records go back as far as 1981, which is before some of the coaches at the meet were born!  Whenever I go down to Myers Park for this meet, I get the feeling that it still means a lot to the schools in the area, even if it is just for the sake of pride and bragging rights.  This year's meet featured several great performances, but one of the neat things about it is that participation can run deep into a team's roster: with so many relays to run, you can get more of your kids involved that you might at other meets.
