Senior Spotlight: Tevin Hester

The sprinter from Granville Central has become one of the best in the nation, and still may have more potential as yet untapped.

As I mentioned last week in Briana Haith's Senior Spotlight, it is amazing that one small school has produced two ot the state's best sprinters, and it's a testament to the hard work they have put into their training.  Briana at least showed state-level talent her freshman year, though; Tevin Hester's rise as a sprinter is nothing short of astonishing.  He did not break the 11-second barrier until his sophomore year, but then he ended up dropping to 10.61 at the state meet that season.  He followed that up with a 10.50 at last year's outdoor state meet, meaning that his best times in each of the past two seasons have come in the state meet.  That's clutch performance!  When you consider that Tevin plays basketball and barely gets to do any track training in the winter, and then add in the fact that Granville Central's facility is very limited, it makes his accomplishments even more impressive.  Scary thought: what can Tevin do with year-round training at Clemson?
