Girls Highlights
AAA #1 Assumption rolled to a third place finish at Great American once again setting a new record for Kentucky. At the Valkyrie Invitational they were the first KY school to ever have four girls under 19 minutes in one race. Saturday in North Carolina they bettered the time mark with four girls under 18:43 led by Katherine Receveur’s 18:15 in 16th place. This is the fastest time run in Kentucky this year. Emily Bean was 18th with an 18:23, Bailey Davis was 18th with an 18:26, and Caroline McCaslin was 32nd with a 18:42. Kenzley Denfler was their final scorer with a 19:17 which was good enough to finish 57th overall. This group of young ladies should quickly be joining the national rankings.
Class A #1 Maddox Patterson (Sayre) ran a 18:24 to finish 19th in her first appearance at a national race.
Boys Highlights
A #1 Jacob Thomson has run against some of the best runners in this area in 2011. This continued on Saturday and this time he made his mark for sure as one of the best as he finished 3rd with a 15:02 just five seconds behind Daniel Moore (FL) and two seconds behind Jacob Burcham (WV). Thomson’s time ranks #4 All-time on that course.
AAA #1 St. Xavier finished 5th with all five scorers under 16:30. Junior Connor Sheryak went 15:29 to finish 7th overall. Zack Beavin 19th (15:43), Sam Lewis 26th (15:48), Mark Johnson 71st (16:24), and Nick Reader 82nd (16:29.) AA #1 James Brown (Bell County) was 10th with a 15:33 and A #2 Nicholas Waltman (Sayre) was 18th 15:43.
