All Eyes on NC For a Big XC Week

Week 7 is the biggest week of the regular cross country season in North Carolina, as teams from around the Southeast and beyond visit the Old North State to race.  The National Scholastic Sports Foundation will host the Great American  Cross Country Festival on Friday and Saturday at WakeMed Park in Cary, while a veteran crew of Charlotte-area coaches will be on hand to run the state's premier meet, the Wendy's Invitational.  And they're not the only significant meets!  It's not just the weekend, either, as Tuesday has three unusually large weekday meets scheduled.  Take a look at what's in store this week:

Tuesday, September 27th

ACA Invitational

Asheville Christian hosts 17 teams on their home course.

Bunker Hill Pre-Regional Meet

Murray's Mill is the course for this meet, and also for the 2A West Regional.

Carolina 12 Invitational

Several of the best 1A and 2A teams in the state start jockeying for post-season position at Northwood.

Saturday, October 1st

Wendy's Invitational

(McAlpine Park, Charlotte)

Great Outdoor Provision Co. Featured Meet of the Week

Arguably the most important cross country meet of the regular season in our state.

Great American Cross Country Festival

(WakeMed Soccer Park, Cary)

Teams from around the country compete to demonstrate national standing.

American Independent Schools XC Championship

(WakeMed Soccer Park, Cary)

An addition to Great American for schools whose sanctioning will not allow them to participate in the main meet.

Hagan Stone Classic

(Hagan Stone Park, Greensboro)

A competitive meet on a big course; in any other week, this would be the premiere event.

Murray's Mill Cross Country Invitational

(Murray's Mill, Newton)

Bunker Hill hosts a second big meet this week.
