Men’s Track Distance Runners Shine at Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – Charlie Schmitt, Ryan Hopkins and Demetrios Pagonis turned in a trio of times that rank among the top-10 fastest in Davidson men's track and field history in the 5000-meter run Friday at the Duke Invitational in Wallace Wade Stadium.
Freshman Andrew Lantz also made his mark on Davidson's record book, running the fourth-fastest 1500 meters in school history to place 15th in the event in three minutes, 53.02 seconds.
Schmitt, who broke the Davidson 5000m record on March 25 at the Raleigh Relays with a time of 14:27.21, placed 12th in 14:36.78 to lead the Wildcats in the event. Hopkins trailed in 17th in 14:43.10 and was immediately followed by Pagonis in 18th in 14:49.25.
The 'Cats will return to action Saturday at both Duke and the JCSU Invitational.
