This Week's Nominees:
Rico Mabberley, Topsail (North Carolina): Won the shot put at the CCC Track & Field Championship Meet with a throw of 61-10, the top mark among all competitors this week. Also placed second in the discus with a toss of 135-1.
Chase McCullough, Hickory Ridge (North Carolina): Swept the throwing events at the GMAC Conference Meet, winning the discus with a throw of 187-0 and the shot put at 58-1. His discus mark was the best thrown by any athlete this week.
Roger Patterson, Union Pines (North Carolina): Clocked the week's fastest 100m time at 10.41 while winning the Carolina Conference Championships. Also placed second in the 200m with a time of 21.78.
Michael Ferguson, North Buncombe (North Carolina): Posted the top 800m time of the week at 1:52.24, winning the Mountain 5A/6A Conference Championship by a comfortable margin.
Liam Kinken, South Mecklenburg (North Carolina): Double winner at the 7A/8A Southwestern Conference Championships, taking the 400m in 47.85 and the 200m in 21.62. His 400m time was the second-fastest mark posted this week, while he ranks as the top junior in North Carolina in the event.
