Mylan Clay, Fr. - Corvian Community
The freshman has quickly established herself as the top hurdler in the state for the class of 2029.
We talked about her recently in our high school recap, but Clay owns the fastest freshman time in North Carolina in both hurdle events and has already shown her versatility across multiple disciplines early in her career. She's posted times as low as 15.39 in the 100m hurdles, proving she has it both: speed and endurance over the barriers. With that kind of range and early success, Clay is on track to become one of the state's premier multi-event athletes over the next few seasons.

Dakarai Taylor, Fr. - North Mecklenburg
The freshman has emerged as one of the top young horizontal jumpers in North Carolina this season.
Taylor ranks among the very best in the state for his class in the triple jump, highlighted by a mark over 42 feet during the indoor season, and continues to build momentum with each meet. As he continues to develop technically, expect Taylor to become a major contender not just among freshmen, but across all classifications.
