Women's Track Opens Indoor SoCon Championships Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Seniors Heather Conarroe and Sarah Cline will look to lead the Davidson women's track and field team at the Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday and Sunday at the Indoor Track Complex on the campus of Clemson University.

The championship will be begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with the women's pentathlon, followed by four of the men's heptathlon events at 10:15 a.m. The awards ceremony is set for Sunday at 4:40 p.m.

The event is free to the public. Live results, daily recaps, daily photos and video highlights can be found on the Southern Conference website.

The senior distance duo of Connaroe and Cline have posted the 'Cats' top times so far this season. Connaroe ranks third in the SoCon in the 5000-meters with a season-best time of 17:49.46, set at the season-opening Liberty Invitational. Cline was Davidson's highest finisher in the team's last outing, the UNC Invitational, taking third in the 3000-meter run in a season-best 10:25.31. Freshman Megan Mavity and sophomore Natalie Atabek will also look to make an impact in the distance events.

Junior Erin Lupfer will compete in the high jump and look to improve on her season-bestmark of 1.55m.

Western Carolina, the 2010 Indoor SoCon Champion, is looking to claim its third title in four years.
