Cassidee Fraser, So. - North Lenoir
A state-runner in the 100m and 200m dashes last season, the sophomore has emerged as one of the country's best sprinters in 2026.
Fraser owns the state's top time, and a US #7, in the 100m this season, having run an 11.18 earlier this week at the Lenoir County Championships. She also set a personal best in the 200m on Tuesday, dipping under 24 seconds and running 23.78 to claim a second county title. It would not be a surprise if the second-year standout wins her first outdoor title next month and goes on to represent the Tar Heel State on the national stage.

Brandon Weaver, Cleveland
The freshman has yet to capture his first high school win, but the breakout is coming.
Across six shot put competitions, Weaver has finished second three times and has thrown 46 feet twice. He set his personal best at the GNRC Cleveland Dual Meet, throwing 46-4 and missing out on his first win by just 4 inches to his senior teammate. The rising star owns the top mark in the class of 2029 for the shot put and will be a force to be reckoned with over the next couple of years.

Michelle Pringley, Fr. - Hillsborough
The freshman finished 10th in the shot put at the indoor state meet this winter and has only gotten better this spring.
Pringley has won four of her eight appearances in the shot put this year and threw 35-4 en route to a win at a Quad Meet in early March, five inches further than her throw at the indoor state championships a month prior. She is the top-ranked freshman in the event, but is ranked even better in the discus amongst everyone else in the state. You will want to keep your eye on Pringley as her career continues.

Joey Wynn, So. - Charlotte Christian
Wynn dipped below 50 seconds in the 400m dash on nine occasions in 2025 and has done so in all three appearances he's made in the event this spring.
The sophomore has been one of the top 400m runners in the class of 2028 this season, highlighted by a win at the Weddington Invitational back in March. He dropped his season-best of 48.66 two weeks ago at the All American Track Classic, continuing to build on a strong freshman campaign that saw him finish 4th at state. With that kind of progression, expect Wynn to be in the mix again this postseason and likely extend his season beyond North Carolina as he continues his rise.
