Davidson Men’s Track & Field Strong at Liberty Open

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Davidson men's track and field team had seven performances rank among the top-10 best in school history Saturday at the indoor season-opening Liberty Open.
Senior JinHan Song led Davidson in the 60-meter dash with a career-best 7.15 second time, just .02 seconds shy of the school record. Song also led the 'Cats in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 23.60, and in the 400-meter dash in 51.86.
Junior Taylor Martin turned in a career-best performance in the 500-meter dash and became the second-best performer all-time at Davidson in the event with a time of 1:08.65 to place ninth. Junior Lee Dorsey and freshman Nate Faubion also cracked Davidson's top-10 performance and performers lists with a 10th-place finish in 1:09.30 and a 13th-place finish in 1:10.35, respectively.
Sophomore Will Mitchell turned in a Davidson all-time top-10 performance in the 1000-meter run in 2:36.91.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Faubion, junior Stephen Powell, Mitchell and Martin combined for a Davidson all-time top-10 performance, placing eighth in 8:21.39.
Senior Bryce Jones matched his career-best pole vault mark of 13-9 ¼ (4.20m).
The Wildcats placed three in the top-10 in the 3000-meter run, led by senior Greg Marcil. Marcil took fourth in 8:58.37 and was trailed by sophomore Wes Reynolds in sixth place in 9:01.81. Sophomore Will Stratford took ninth in 9:05.72. Senior Jonathan Koch and freshman Landry Bennett both earned top-10 finishes in the mile run in 4:26.17 (fourth) and 4:29.25 (ninth).
Junior Ehsan Akbari was Davidson's lone representative in the 5000-meter run on Friday, placing seventh in 15:59.19.
The Wildcats will return to action at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn., next weekend.
