Highlights: Mike Turi from John Jay East Fishkill wins the Division I 5K race in the day’s fastest time (15:55). Owen Skeete from Westbury wins the Division II race in 15:56. Brewster has fastest team average of the day, and first in the merge.
Great race between Gina Talt of Mamaroneck and Megan Young of Nanuet in the Division I race. Megan Young was leading by a favorable margin after 2-miles. Gina Talt, however, runs a great last mile to win in a very fast 5K of 17:49. Megan Young 2nd in 18:10. Nanuet has fastest team average of the day.

Grout Invitational

Highlights: The Shaker Boys team remained undefeated by winning their fourth consecutive invitational in capturing the Grout Run Division 1 Race on Saturday, October 2. Shaker, again led by juniors Mike Libruk and Jon Vallecorsa put five runners in the top ten to finish with 32 points and easily defeat NY ranked teams such as Bayport Bluepoint and Chaminade. Earlier in the week, the Shaker team defeated Burnt Hills, the #1 ranked Class A team in NYS along with two other Suburban Council teams in a league meet by running as a pack and having all seven varsity runners finish in the top nine to move their league record to 7-0.
Rhinebeck, North Rockland, and Colonie girls all win team titles. Connetquot and Fonda-Fultonville boys take other titles.

Highlights: Burnt Hills girls beat NY#2 overall East Aurora 58-78. Shaylyn Tuite of Pittsford Mendon wins AA race in 16:54. NYS #1 D team, Maple Grove, wins A race over Holland Patent 52-117.
Northeast Bradford beats NYS #1 D team Geneseo 93-114 in A race. NYS #1 A team, Burnt Hills, beat Walsh Jesuit 113-122 and handle #2,3,5 in state. Sutherland, Vestal, and McQuaid place 4-5-6, in that order.
ARTICLE: Shaylyn Tuite seemed ready after her performance last weekend at the East Aurora Invitational, set to go after a course record at the McQuaid Invitational.

Highlights: Monsignor Farrell’s mission at the Mayor’s Cup was simple yesterday.

BOYS ARTICLE: It’s safe to say that no one knew what St. Anthony’s had when the season started. The Friars graduated four of their top seven runners from last year and most this year’s squad would be making their varsity debut.
What St. Anthony’s knew they did have though, was depth. But they couldn’t have known they’d be this good. The Friars won their second straight invitational Saturday, claiming the Varsity A-2 race at their home meet, the St. Anthony’s Invitational at Sunken Meadow Park. GIRLS ARTICLE: Bronxville coach Jim Mitchell only yells during races. The rest of the time he’s pretty even. He won’t berate a runner that fails. Instead he might coddle only a little, with a simple, “It’s okay.” COMPLETE ARTICLE HERE

Highlights: CNS boys win title 37-40 over Maine Endwell and average 17:03. CNS senior Chris Buchanan won the race in 16:08.
Fayetteville-Manlius girls run their JV team and win the varsity race 32-67 over CNS. FM averages 19:52. Sophomore Nicole Watterud of CNS wins title in 19:08.

Weekend Preview
With October racing starting on Friday, NY teams are hoping for cooler temps to start brining times down after last weekend near 90 degrees in lower New York.
The Great American XC Festival will take place in Cary, NC, and NY will be well represented. Cornwall, North Shore girls, Saratoga Springsl, North Rockland boys, Warwick Valley girls, Bethlehem, Columbia, Harborfields, Massapequa, and the Shaker girls will all compete. Aisling Cuffe of Cornwall and Kelsy Margey of Harborfields are both racing this weekend. It will be Saratoga Springs first invitational of the year. FULL MEET PREVIEW HERE
Back in NY State, a highlight of the weekend will be the McQuad Invitational in Rochester. 169 NY schools will compete in the meet, along with 22 out of state teams and 28 Canadian teams. The boys AA Seeded race features Burnt Hills, Vestal, McQuaid, Pittsford Sutherland, and Pittsford Mendon, that's NYS #1,2,3,5,7. Meet entries and race assignments posted here
39 teams will head to Central Park in Schenectady for the Grout Run, one of the oldest meets in NY State. The Guilderland girls will match up against North Rockland and Washingtonville in the girls D2 race while Niskayunal, Tappan Zee, Colonie, and Suffern will race in the D1 race. Maple Hill, Rhinebeck, and Tri-Valley go at it in the girls small schools C race. The boys meet features Shaker, Suffer, and Chaminade in D1, Guilderland and Washingtonville in D2, and Rhinebeck, Tri-Valley, and Maple Hill. RACE ASSIGNMENTS HERE
The St. Anthony's Invitational will highlight downstate meets as Sunken Meadow State Park will be busy again. This time the varsity and JV runners will tackle the classic 2.5 mile course. No race assignments have been posted yet but Bishop Hendricken, RI is entered, along with Bronxville, Kellenberg, Monroe-Woodbury, and St. Anthony's. Girls entries include Bronxville, Irvington, Kellenberg, Northport, Ridgefield (CT), St. Anthony's, Somers, and Syosset. Race assignments should be posted here when available.
The Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, PA is one of the biggest college meets in the country, but they also have 2 HS races. Bay Shore, Pearl River, and Newburgh will run in the boys race while the Bay Shore and Newburgh girls will also race.
