The High Point University women's cross country team placed sixth to open the season at the Covered Bridge Open on Friday at Appalachian State. The Panthers were led by sophomore
Kaylyn Peck, who placed 12th overall.
"I'm very pleased with the way the women's team ran today," said HPU head coach
Mike Esposito. "
Kaylyn Peck has made an enormous jump, an enormous commitment and it showed today. It's a lot of fun to see that hard work start to pay off. Our spread from our first to fifth runner was about 1:05, which was very good. Our big emphasis today was to close well over the last 2K and we did that."
Peck finished the 5,000-meter course in 18:30.90. Next across the line for HPU was senior
Emily Webb in 26th with a time of 19:07.63. One position behind her was sophomore
