8/3/2010 9:07:20 AM | Men's Track & Field
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Davidson men's track and field team ranked among the best in the nation academically, as it was recognized as one of 73 teams to earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors for the 2010 season on Monday.
The Wildcats have earned the distinction following each season in which records are available since 2003. Davidson posted a team grade point average of 3.13 to surpass the standard of 3.00 for the honor.
The men's track & field teams at Indiana University and Arizona State University were named as Scholar Teams of the Year in Division I for the 2010 seasons. The squads earned the distinction as a result of being the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.00-cumulative GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championships, respectively.
Davidson was joined on the list by three other Southern Conference members: Furman, UNCG and Chattanooga. The Wildcats placed fifth at both the indoor and outdoor SoCon Championship meets in 2010.
