Manika Gamble took 16th in the 400-meter hurdles and Christina Fenske equaled her career best in the high jump for the High Point University women's track & field team at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday in Atlanta.

“Christina cleared 1.70 (5-foot-7), which is her career best, and she had a good attempt at 1.75,” said HPU head coach Mike Esposito. “She is going to compete in the high jump at North Carolina A&T on Sunday to try to qualify for the first round of the NCAA Championship. Manika had another consistent race in the 400 hurdles.”

Gamble placed eighth in the fastest heat of the 400-meter hurdles and 16th overall with her time of 59.54. She will compete in that event at the first round of the NCAA Championship May 27-29 at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. Gamble's best time of the season is 58.56 and she was Big South champ.

Fenske's leap of 5-7 (1.70 meters) in the high jump equaled her HPU record in that event and earned her a 12th place finish. If she clears 5-8.75 (1.75 meters) on Sunday, she will have a good chance of qualifying for the first round of the NCAA Championship.
