Not Kate geting another trip to San Diego, but that she wasn\'t our best finisher...
So you thought Kate Niehaus best-represented South Carolina at the Footlocker South qualifier held at McAlpine Greenway park in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday? Wrong.
While Niehaus did earn a trip to the national championship meet in San Diego, she was only 5th in her race while Mark Blackmon, a middle schooler from Rock Hill, won his race, the only Palmetto-state resident to win one of the 16 races contested. Blackmon won the Boys 11-12, 3K race in 10:50 topping 51 competitors.
In the day\'s premier races, the girls and boys seeded races, South Carolina\'s girls grabbed 7 of the top 100 places while SC boys could only muster 3 of the top 100.
