Wildcats Compete at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Davidson Wildcats women's track and field team completed competition at the Winthrop Invitational on the campus of Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., this weekend.

Freshman Natalie Atabek was sixth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:50.73, while junior Lauren Childs was ninth in 4:56.72. Junior Heather Conarroe finished with a runner-up time of 5:05.57 in the 1500 meters development heat, ahead of freshman Caroline Gecker, who was eighth with a time of 5:17.58.

Gecker also finished 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:40.81, followed immediately by classmate Anna Armistead, who finished 14th with a time of 2:42.02.

Freshman Rosie Lewis finished with a time of 15.18 in the 100 meter hurdles to qualify for the final heat, where she finished fifth with a time of 15.17. Lewis also finished 13th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.54, and classmate Jena Manilla was 24th with a time of 1:08.78.

Freshman Shelby Wagenseller finished 29th in both the 100 and 200 meters with times of 13.60 and 28.12, respectively.

The Wildcats will return to competition at the Duke Invitational Friday and travel to the Liberty College Invitational Saturday.
