Fisher runs career best in hurdles at Virginia Tech

COMPLETE RESULTS

Sophomore Alex Fisher ran a personal-best time of 8.35 in the 60-meter hurdles in the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier on Saturday at the Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va. Sophomore Michael Feroe also competed in the 800-meter.

"It was a good indoor PR (personal record) for Alex. Mike was coming off an injury and didn't run his best," said HPU head coach Mike Esposito. "Now it's just time to get ready for the Wake Forest meet to start the outdoor season."

Fisher placed 17th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles. He was one slot away from qualifying for the semifinals in his event. Claudio Delli Carpini of Clemson took 16th and got the last spot on his time of 8.32. Fisher's previous career best of 8.36 came at the UNC Invitational on Feb. 12.

Feroe placed 15th in the 800-meter with a season-best time of 2:05.74.

The Panthers will begin the outdoor season March 19-20 at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C. Most of the team will be competing in that meet with the exception of Jesse Cherry, Cole Atkins and Neal Darmody, who will be preparing to run the 10,000-meter at the Stanford Invitational the following week.
