Ruggieri Headlines for Wildcat Women at UNC Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Junior Danielle Ruggieri finished 20th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:56.03 to lead the Davidson Wildcat women's track and field team in competition at the Gene Anderson UNC Invitational Friday on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Junior Heather Conarroe also finished 23rd with a time of 11:03.21 in the event.

Sophomore Danielle Wright and freshman Shelby Wagenseller competed for the Wildcats in the sprints. Wright was the top finisher for Davidson in both the 60 and 200 meters, finishing 26th (8.25) and 23rd (26.81), respectively. Wagenseller finished with a time of 8.64 (44th) in the 60 meters and 28.88 (50th) in the 200 meters.

Freshman Jena Manilla finished with a time of 1:08.52 in the 400 meters, and three Wildcats competed in the 800 meters. Classmate Caroline Gecker was the team's top finisher in the event, finishing with a time of 2:31.58 in 30th place. Freshman Cara Wilck and sophomore Anna Stockamore finished 36th (2:37.17) and 41st (2:44.60), respectively. 

Sophomore Jane Gay and freshman Haley Holway competed for the Wildcats in the mile. Gay finished 24th with a time of 5:39.58, and Holway placed 28th with a time of 5:42.57.

After a week off, the Wildcats will compete at the Southern Conference Indoor Championships, held in Clemson, S.C. Feb 25 and 26.
