Manika Gamble won the 60-meter hurdles and tied her personal record in the event as the High Point University women's track & field team finished competition at the Gene Anderson UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill. Gamble also finished seventh in the 400-meter and
Joya Canfield and
Vanessa Piacente had top-ten finishes in the mile.
“Manika and Joya both had really good races,” said assistant coach Julie Cox. “They both continue to improve and race well. Manika is very consistent and Joya is getting better despite being a little banged up.”
Gamble won the 60-meter hurdles, tying her personal best time of 8.74. She also finished seventh in the 400-meter with a time of 58.81.
Canfield finished third in the mile, coming in at 5:08.9 with Piacente finishing in 5:13.66 for sixth place.
Christina Fenske finished sixth in the high jump, clearing 5'4.25 and
Rachel Webb set a new school record in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet.
The Panthers are at the Virginia Tech Invitational next weekend for the final tune up before the Big South Indoor Championship on Feb. 27-28 in Clemson, S.C.
