800m
The 2A 800 would have the same two girls battling it out upfront, as we had seen all day with Cathrine Parker of NC School of Math & Science and Maya Little of Pine Lake Preparatory. Similarly to the 1600, it was Little who would take the pace out early and Parker who would sit in behind and wait to make her move. Little had held Parker off all the way into the final home stretch, and it seemed as if Little had gotten the best of Parker this time around. However, as Little swung off the final turn to home, she had left room on the inside rail. Parker would take full advantage of this sliding by Little on the inside to take her third win of the day in 2:18.41; Little finished with her second silver of the day in 2:18.65.
In the 4A 800 meters, the trio from Cuthbertson toed the line at a North Carolina state meet for one final time, and it would be another memorable team performance. Bell would take the pace out hot from the gun again, going 1:03.03 for the first lap, with Kermes following in right behind at 1:03.59. The two would stay neck and neck all the way to the home stretch, where Bell would pull away from her teammate in a new NC #1 time of 2:08.78; Kermes finished second in 2:09.59; Louisa Betz from Broughton at 2:10.67; and Preisano at 2:10.94 were third and fourth, respectively.
Swain County continued to rack up the points, taking the 800-meter run win, with sophomore Annie Lewis running a new NC #11 2:14.97. Dvdaya Swimmer from Cherokee was the runner-up at 2:20.25.
Lily Yampolsky of Lake Norman Charter would once again aggressively push from the gun in the 3A 800, this time being rewarded with a win for her gutsy racing tactics, holding off a hard-finishing kick from Jillian Parks of Central Davidson to run 2:13.41 and become a state champion. Parks finished runner-up in 2:13.67. Bella Green of North Lincoln ran 2:17.89 to finish third, followed by Eden Barnwell of North Buncombe in 2:18.01 to round out the podium.
