Manika Gamble (Jacksonville, N.C./Jacksonville ) won her heat in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries and qualified for the final in the High Point University women's track & field team's first day of the ETSU Niswonger Invitational. Joya Canfield (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) continued her strong start in the indoor season, taking third in the 800-meter.

“Joya continues to run well and she is really learning to race and compete,” head coach Mike Esposito said. “I am very pleased with Manika for making it into the 60-meter hurdle finals. Lora Robinson (Salisbury, Md./Parkside ) performed well and is showing improvement from this time last year. Tomorrow I look forward to the distance and events and the four freshmen running the distance medley relay.”

Gamble will run in the invitational final of the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday after winning her heat in 8.91. She also ran the 60-meter dash, but just missed qualifying for the finals.
