Alex Fisher (Roanoke, Va./William Byrd ) of the High Point University men's track & field team qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing the preliminaries in 8.39 in the first day of the ETSU Noswinger Invitational at East Tennessee State.

“I am very pleased with Alex's preliminary time and expect him to compete well in the final,” said head coach Mike Esposito. “Justin ran his season's best in the 60-meter dash and is really coming around. Tomorrow we will run our distance kids and we have a chance to win the mile.”

Freshman Jacob Smith (Brockville, Ontario, Thousand Islands Secondary School), who was the Big South Freshman of the Year in cross country, will make his indoor debut as well, after missing last week due to injury. He will run the mile along with senior Josh Morgan, junior Jevin Monds (Whitecourt, Alberta/Hilltop) and sophomore Michael Feroe (Clarksville, Md./River Hill).
