COMPLETE RESULTS

The High Point University women's cross country team sent three runners to the NCAA Southeast Regional and were led by senior Geneva Winterink (Oshawa, Ontario/Paul Dwyer Catholic), who placed 96th, on Saturday in Louisville, Ky. Junior Emily Webb (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) placed 102nd and senior Joya Canfield (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) took 121st.

"The three women ran very well," said head coach Mike Esposito. "They finished right together with Geneva in front. Emily was right behind and Joya came in a few spots later. It was a good springboard into the track season for them."

Winterink ran a time of 22:43.83 to place 96th on the 6K course. Webb took 102nd in 22:46.52 and Canfield placed 121st in a time of 23:02.75.

HPU did not have five runners, so the Panthers did not qualify for a team score. Virginia's Catherine White won the meet with a time of 20:03.90 and Duke won the team title. Duke and runner-up Virginia claimed automatic qualifying spots for the NCAA Championship.

The meet concluded the 2009 cross country season for High Point University. The Panthers placed fourth in the Big South Championship two weeks ago, the first time the team ever hosted the meet.

The HPU indoor track & field season starts at the Liberty Kickoff on Dec. 3 in Lynchburg, Va.
