Girls' Team Performance of the Year - Cuthbertson Goes Off During Indoor Nationals Weekend

The historic year for the ladies of Cuthbertson has finally come to a close. NCHSAA 4A cross country, indoor, and outdoor track team championships were secured by the Cavaliers, but it was their performance over the weekend of March 11th and 12th that really set the tone for what these girls are capable of.

Friday, March 12th at NSAF Indoor Nationals the team of Stella Kermes, Charlotte Bell, Justine Preisano, and Alyssa Preisano took to the track in their first of two major relays of the weekend, this time for the 4x800m relay. They started off their weekend hot with a national championship in the 4x800, absolutely running away from the field. Their time, however, was the major story: 8:59.85. They became the first team in state history, indoors or outdoors, to break the elusive 9:00 barrier in the event.

They were not done by any means.

Come Saturday afternoon, they were back on the track, this time at New Balance Indoor Nationals, for a big match-up with Flower Mound, TX in the 4x1 Mile. Although they did not get the win, they still shattered the state record board, and now sit US No. 4 all-time in the event after running 20:01.48.

These two races were just extra motivation for the Cavaliers, as they will be returning all four legs of their relay in 2022-2023. And even then, they will only have one senior on the squad in Wake Forest commit Alyssa Presiano.
