MileSplit North Carolina 2021-2022 End of Year Awards

Girls' MVP - Shawnti Jackson (Wakefield)

Shawnti Jackson is the present, and the future of the track and field world. And no, not just on the high school scene.

The junior finished the season as outdoor NC No. 1 in the 100m, 200m, and 400m and indoor NC No. 1 in the 55m, 60m, 200m, and 300m.

She was dominant at the indoor and outdoor state championships, winning the state titles in the indoor 55m and 300m, and the outdoor titles in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. But, state titles weren't enough for Jackson.

Just this past weekend, she won the USATF U20 100m crown and will represent Team USA at the U20 Global Championships in Cali, Columbia. Her time of 11.07w is all-conditions high school No. 4 all-time, and a North Carolina state record. She took down some of the top collegians in the country en route to her victory. In her young career, this may be the biggest victory... for now. (Until she brings home that gold medal at U20).

At The Millrose Games back in January Jackson reset the record books and set a new high school national record in the 60m dash. Her 7.18 is .01 faster than previous record holders Ashley Owens (DC) and Tamari Davis (FL).

Other Nominees: Akala Garrett, Charlotte Bell, Stella Kermes, Hannah Rae Shaffer, Alyssa Preisano, Justine Preisano, Mary Bonner Dalton, Cheyla Scott, Amelia Maughan, Mckynzie Mauney, Caroline Murrell
