NCRunners XC Countdown Girls #2: Morgan Boonshaft

Coming in at No. 2 on our girl's cross country pre-season countdown is Providence Day School sophomore Morgan Boonshaft!

Boonshaft emerged on the NC running scene long before she ran for Providence Day School. As an 8th grader she won the NC Middle School XC Championship 3000m, the NC USATF Junior Olympics State Championship 4000m, and was 7th at the USATF 4000m National Championship. She also won the 13-14 age group 5000m at 2019 Foot Locker South Regional.

She ran her 5000m personal best of 17:56 at Hare & Hounds last season, finishing runner-up to Angie Allen. Injuries plagued the rest of her cross country season, and we did not see her at the NCISAA state meet.

She bounced back to have an incredible track season. She ran 10:48 for the 3200m which was US No. 21 for freshman. Her personal best in the 1600m, 5:05, came at the CISAA Conference Championship.

She completed the double at the NCISAA DI state meet. She won the 1600m in 5:08 and then turned around to win the 3200m in 10:57. Her two victories helped Providence Day School walk away with the team title. She ran 2:27 in the 800m, as well.

Now, coming into her sophomore season healthy and more motivated than ever, Boonshaft looks to prove that the NCISAA can run with the NCHSAA!
