Watch Jamier Moten Run NC No. 1 400m To Win NCHSAA 4A Crown

In 2019, Jamier Moten was a freshman at Ardrey Kell eager to break into the track and field scene. Moten was one of three freshman in NC to break 50.00 in the 400m, and he was the only one under 49.00. After a year hiatus of no racing Moten was ready to get back on the track this season. He broke 48.00 for the first time at the So Meck 9 Conference Championship where he clocked 47.99 on route to a conference title. He backed it up the following week with a 48.16 victory at the NCHSAA 4A West Regional. After winning the 100m, 400m, and finishing runner-up in the 200m at his conference championship, he decided to go all in on the 400m at 4A West Regional making it his sole individual event of the day.

Moten shot out of the blocks at the NCHSAA 4A State Championship and did not look back. On the back stretch he had made up the stagger on almost half the field. Over the 2nd curve he kicked it into the next gear, completely running away from the field.

Moten won the NCHSAA 4A 400m title in a new personal best and NC No. 1 this season time of 47.94.
