In 2018 Pinecrest's (NC) Carmen Alder captured her first-ever North Carolina state title as a sophomore. She ran 17:50.64 for one of the top time all-time times on the course since it was reconfigured. Now in her senior year, she will look to take home her third consecutive Class 4A title.
This year, the two-time XC State Champion again comes in as the favorite. Alder will look to make history as the eighth runner ever in North Carolina, and the fourth girl, to win three consecutive cross country state titles. She would be only the second girl to do it in the 4A classification.
