ECU Lands Two Top NC Recruits

ECU landed two of the top returning distance girls this week. Madeline Hill (Cuthbertson) joins Paxton Chitty (Ashley) as the head of the 2021 ECU recruiting class. Madeline Hill has been a focal point to Cuthbertson's success of the years. She has helped Cuthbertson capture two team titles in XC and three in indoor track! Hill won the 2018 XC State title and was runner-up in the 1600m at the Indoor State Meet and was a key leg on the victorious Cuthbertson 4x800m team.

"I chose ECU because it's a perfect fit for me all around. Academically, ECU has great programs in Exercise Science, Biology, and Nutrition which are all possible majors for me. There is also tremendous support for the student-athlete as a whole that really stood out to me. I know Coach Weaver is going to be an awesome coach and he and the girls on the team have been extremely welcoming already. They are going to push me to be the best runner I can be, and I can't wait to contribute to the team," Hill said about her commitment.

Paxton Chitty is coming off an All-State performances in the 2018 and 2019 XC seasons in the 4A level for Ashley High School. She has been a great runner in her career in big races, having never finished outside the Top 3 at any of the NCHSAA Regional Meets. Her lowest finish at the XC State Championship is 17th as a freshman! She has certainly been a big-time performer over her career!
