Sprints/Hurdles
Zariyah Black (Eastern Guilford) has been on a tear this indoor season and will challenge both the 55m Dash and 55m Hurdle State Meet Record of 7.02 and 8.03 tomorrow. Black has run 7.08 and 7.88 in the two events this season and will be a heavy favorite to win both events. Jordyn Case (Weddington) and Jordan Sales (J.H. Rose) will be her biggest competition in the dash at 7.17 and 7.20 this season. Aside from Black the hurdles have Riley Newkirk (Western Guilford) and Sydney Clemens (Western Guilford) who have run 8.13 and 8.19 this indoor season.
Alyssa Hernandez (Northern Guilford) will look to win her first state titles this weekend in the 500m Dash and 300m Dash. She's the top seed in both with a 1:14.67 in the 500m and 40.76 in the 300m Dash each run indoors. Behind Hernandez the 500m is competitive with Ariana Daley (Clayton), Mackenzie Townsend (Cuthbertson), Emily Bowbliss (Union Pines), Presley Worf (Cuthbertson) and Zahnetta Wilkins (Rocky Mount) each having PRs in the 1:18s-1:19s. The 300m will be a tighter battle up front with Hernandez, Jordan Sales (J.H. Rose), Townsend and freshman Ziyah Etchison (Parkland) having seasons best within .26 seconds of each other.
