Montini, Jones Lead Oak Hall Squads to Podium Finishes

Austin Montini and Lauren Jones  led their Oak Hall squads to two podium finishes this weekend with their individual performances.

Back in August, Montini made it clear that his big goal this season was to come away with an individual state title. On Saturday the Oak Hall junior did just that with a very strategic race plan: hit the splits. He finished in a time of 15:39 ahead of Matthew Stratton's 15:39.

Montini led the Oak Hall boys to a runner-up finish to Seffner Christian -- a team rivalry that has battled it out for a few years now.

On the girls side, Oak Hall sophomore, Lauren Jones, battled with Circle Christian's Sinkenesh Parker for a solid runner-up finish. She was third as a freshman and came away one place closer to the state title and walked away with a season best of 18:44 after dealing with an injury all summer that set her back.

Jones led her girls to the team title with 53 points over reigning champions, Circle Christian with a team average of 19:35 with their top four earning all-state honors.
