Mount Tabor senior Frances Whitworth comes into the 2019 cross country season with a plethora of experience. She has competed at the 3A state cross country championships each of her first three years of high school, finishing as high as fifth, and has come away with numerous top ten finishes in indoor and outdoor state meet track events. Whitworth finished ninth at cross country states last year, but will look to rebound as a senior and use her race experience to her advantage.

With consistency, experience, and strength in her back pocket, Whitworth should be one to watch for the entirety of the cross country season, especially in November at the state championships.

Whitworth ran a season best of 18:22.70 for the 5k last year, just fractions of a second off of her personal record of 18:22.01. She then ran some of the top times in the state just a few months later during the indoor track season: 11:09.82 for 3,200m (NC No. 5) and 5:09.54 for 1,600m (NC No. 9). Whitworth continued to excel in the 3,200m outdoors where she set a new personal best of 11:02.39 at the adidas Raleigh Relays.
