12 Year Old Elizabeth Deen Jumps 20-0.5 Long Jump

Elizabeth Deen (Greensboro, NC) had one of the most incredible performances of the entire outdoor season in the Long Jump at AAU Region 25.

Deen held an impressive 18-7.25 PR from Jim Law heading into the event, already over the previous 12 Year Old National Record by a wide margin.

Yesterday Deen had a massive jump at the AAU Region 25 Qualifier with a perfect jump of 20-0.5!  She would win the 12 Year Old Long Jump by 5 feet with legal wind of +1.0.

The mark is the best in North Carolina this year, tied for 8th best of anyone high school or younger in North Carolina History under all-conditions.  It would have placed Deen 3rd in the Championship section of New Balance Outdoor Nationals.

Deen would also take the win in the 80m Hurdles clocking 12.54 (-1.1) in the Finals.  Deen ran 12.14 (+1.5) in the Prelims.  She holds a PR in the 80m Hurdles of 11.95 and is the national leader in that event as well as the Long Jump where she's exceeded the age group national record, previously at 17-11.75.

Deen's Long Jump also exceeds the 12 Year Old World Record which stands at 19-7 (+0.0) from Kumiko Ikeda (Japan, 1993).  Deen's mark wasn't measured with steel tape, so isn't official for record purposes.
