Epic Head To Head 4x800m Battles
The most exciting part of the action on day 1 at the NCISAA Division I State Championships are going to be the 4x800m relays. Both the girls and boys fields have an incredible battle up front. On the girls side Providence Day and Charlotte Country Day ran head to head at the CISAA Championships and were separated by .5 seconds. They'll be set to face off again this weekend in what should be an epic rematch. The two squads sit at NC No. 3 and NC No. 5 respectively heading into the weekend. You'll also have TISAC Champs Cary Academy who have run 10:09 and should be in the mix as well.
On the boys side we should see Providence Day and Durham Academy challenge the 8:00 mark. The two teams have run 8:09 and 8:13 this season. Both teams have multiple guys capable of breaking 2:00. I envision this race coming down to Durham Academy's 1:54 800m runner Mark Alkins chasing down Providence Day over the anchor leg. We should see big seasons best from both teams.
