NON Saturday Action Looks Up: Hillenbrand, Scharold 1-2 in the EE 800m, Stuart 2nd in the EE Shot

Saturday Action Looks Up at NON

 

 

Glasgow senior Patrick Stuart who did not compete his senior year finished 2nd in the Emerging Elite Shot Put with a toss of 54-10. 

 

  

Kentucky loaded up in the Emerging Elite 800m Run with four athletes competing in two different sections.  Running in Section 3 were Class AA 800m State Record Holder Thomas Canary and Apollo sophomore Justin House.  Canary went through the 400m in 56.40 and House 56.68.  House closed in 59.56 to finish 4th in his heat with a 1:56.24.  Canary closed in 1:00.53 to finish 6th in 1:56.93.  House was 14th overall and Canary was 19th

    

 

In the last section was AAA champion Robbie Scharold and St. Xavier junior Matt Hillenbrand.  No splits are available but each ran personal best times going 1-2 in the their and overall in the 800m Emerging Elite Event.  Hillenbrand finished 1st overall with a 1:54.31 and Scharold 2nd in 1:54.38. 

 

 

Brandon Bagley, AAA State Champion in the 110m and 300m hurdles, ran in the 400m hurdles at NON and showed nicely. His time of 56.02 placed him 4th in his heat and 17th overall.

 

 

Emma Brink (Sacred Heart) closes out the competitors from Kentucky at the Nike meet this year. Running in the unseeded section of the mile, Brink led for two laps with early splits of 73, 73 to come through the half way mark just over 2:26. After trading the lead on lap three, Brink brought the group into the last quarter at 3:41 before finishing 2nd in her heat in 4:58.43. The other two heats of the mile will be contested tonight and we will have to wait until then to see where Emma places overall.
