Nunley, Ruffin, Cascone Stand Out Amongst The 2021 Class

Boys Freshman Class State Leaderboard

Christian Ruffin (Southeast Raleigh)

Southeast Raleigh had a star freshman last year in Brian Williams who ran 35.48 for the 300 and 1:11.08 in the 500 rankings NC#1 and NC#2 amongst freshman at the end of 2017.  Freshman Christian Ruffin emerged as a star last week running 1:08.81 as a freshman taking 2nd at the Wake County Invitational #2 at JDL.  It's very early in the year, but Ruffin's time would have ranked #4 amongst freshman from the entire US in the 2017 indoor season for the 500.

Ruffin is no newcomer to the track.  He comes onto the high school scene with PRs of 11.35, 23.57, 51.92 and 2:11.90.  He competed with Track Xplosion last summer.  Ruffin has also run 36.67 for the 300 so far this indoor season.  It also ranks as the fastest time in NC amongst freshman if you include Polar Bear meets.  Ruffin's got a long career ahead of him, and I bet there are few freshman that have started out as fast as Ruffin has so far this season.
